I finally tried Beijingya, a Chinese spot recommended to me by Anh-Tu, the owner of Nénu.
Here, you’ll find all the classics and so much more. Think jellyfish salad, fried chicken feet, and other lesser-known delights that don’t usually make it into our “Chinese classics.”

This time, though, I played it safe, starting with Xiao Long Bao, my favorite dim sum—filled with meat and rich broth, cooked to perfection.

We moved on to the Peking duck, salt and pepper fried ribs, and Singapore noodles that brought back memories of my years in China.

Beijingya is an unassuming little place, a neighborhood spot that’s been around forever. Wooden chopsticks and Sriracha bottles on the tables, simple, no-fuss service, and generous, delicious dishes. It’s comfort tucked into a bowl of noodles or a bamboo steamer.

Next time, I’m trying the jellyfish. Promise.
